Course Outline

The Project Management Skills course provides participants with the necessary skills to plan their projects by creating project scope statements and project work breakdown structures. Additionally, participants will be able to develop key performance indicators for monitoring and controlling their project schedule and budget. The course furthermore aims at assisting participants in assessing the feasibility of their projects by using capital budgeting techniques. In addition, participants will learn to effectively plan project stakeholders’ engagement and manage their expectations.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Define projects and how they differ from other business processes
  • Explain management roles and responsibilities in project management
  • Document project requirements and create a project scope statement
  • Plan projects using statement of work and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Schedule project activities and build the project network model
  • Implement project monitoring and controlling processes
  • Calculate project budgets and schedule variances using Earned Value (EV) techniques
  • Select the right projects using capital budgeting techniques
  • Relate to project stakeholders through better negotiation and communication skills

Participants should attend at least 5 out of the 6 classes.

Participants need to complete two assignments successfully.

At the end of the course, participants need to complete a final written exam.

A Certificate of Completion is awarded if the course is successfully fulfilled. Participants also receive an official transcript for their grades and course credits.
